The problem

Everyone in the house gets seen except you

The pattern is nearly always the same. It started months ago. You have been lifting a child in and out of a car seat, carrying a bag on the same shoulder, sleeping badly, and putting your own appointment off because the logistics are impossible and it feels indulgent to spend the time and the money on yourself.

Meanwhile the thing you actually want to ask about is your child's posture, or the headaches, or the backpack, or the note that came home after a scoliosis screening at school. Both of those are legitimate reasons to be here, and they can be dealt with in the same practice.

Our solutions

How this actually gets treated

Your own problem dealt with properly first — you are no use to anyone as an afterthought — then whatever your children actually need, and nothing they do not.

Your children: what is worth checking and what is being oversold

The things worth having looked at are concrete. A scoliosis screening flag from school should be assessed properly, because curves are monitored by measurement over time and early identification changes the options. Persistent headaches in a child, a consistently uneven posture, one shoulder sitting higher, recurring sports complaints, or a backpack habit that has become a forward head posture are all worth a look.

What we will not do is tell you that adjusting your child will resolve behavior, attention, immunity or unrelated illness. Those claims are common in this field and the evidence does not support them. Pediatric care here is gentle — sustained light pressure, nothing resembling adult technique — and it is aimed at mechanical problems. If your child needs a pediatrician instead, that is what you will be told.

Recognize yourself

Sound familiar?

What most often brings parents in for themselves, and what they most often ask about for their children.

Why it is the same shoulder and the same side of your back every time

Parenting is asymmetric loading, repeated thousands of times. The child goes on the same hip, the bag on the same shoulder, the car seat is lifted with a twist from the same side, and the feeding position rounds the same part of your upper back. The body adapts to that, and eventually the adaptation is what hurts rather than the load.

This is genuinely fixable, and part of the fix is mechanical rather than clinical: which side you carry on, how you get the car seat out, and how you sit to feed. None of it requires you to stop doing any of it.

Family

Check your child in five minutes

Milestones, posture, backpack load and the specific things worth having looked at by age. It also tells you plainly which findings are normal and do not need anyone at all.

Sleep and stress are part of the case, not a lifestyle aside

Tension through the neck and upper back is worse in people who are not sleeping and are running at capacity, and no amount of manual treatment fully outruns that. It is not a character flaw or something to be lectured about; it is a genuine input to the problem.

Practically, that means the plan includes the two or three things most likely to help within your actual constraints — sleep position, a short routine that fits in the day you have — rather than a program designed for someone with an hour to spare.

What happens next

What the first six weeks look like

Logistics, treated as a clinical issue rather than your problem to solve

The reason parents do not complete a course of care is almost never the care. It is the third Tuesday when the childcare falls through. So: after-school and early evening appointments, siblings welcome in the room, and family visits scheduled back to back rather than on separate days.

You also get the full cost of a family plan up front, including what insurance is likely to cover, because an unexpected bill is a specific fear in this group and a well-founded one.

  1. Visit one

Your examination, and your questions about the children answered

A full examination for you, plus time to raise whatever it is you actually came in worrying about for your children. If they need to be seen, that gets booked alongside yours rather than as a separate errand.

  2. Weeks one to two

Get your pain down and stop the daily reloading

Treatment for the restricted joints and the soft tissue holding them, plus the practical changes to carrying, lifting and feeding positions that stop you undoing it every day.

  3. Weeks two to five

Build enough capacity that normal life stops hurting

Short, realistic strengthening through the range you have regained. The test is whether you can lift a thirty-pound child out of a car seat without paying for it, so that is what we build toward.

  4. Around week six

Re-test, and decide about the family

Same measurements as visit one, and a plain statement of whether you are done. Ongoing family maintenance is a choice offered at that point with the cost in writing, not something assumed.

The 100 Year Lifestyle
The habits your children will inherit

The 100 Year Lifestyle premise is that the baseline being set in your household now — how people sit, move, sleep and recover — is the one your children carry for decades. Which is a better reason to look after yourself than any argument about deserving it.

Questions patients ask

The questions parents actually ask

Can I bring my children to my own appointment?

Yes. They can be in the room, and it is a normal occurrence here rather than something to apologize for. Childcare is the single most common reason a course of care does not get finished, so it is treated as a scheduling problem to solve rather than yours to absorb.

Is chiropractic safe for children?

Pediatric technique bears very little resemblance to adult care — it is sustained light pressure rather than any kind of thrust, and it is generally well tolerated. Where it is reasonable is mechanical: posture, uneven loading, sports complaints, growth-related pain, and monitoring a scoliosis curve. Where the evidence does not support it is behavior, attention, immunity and unrelated illness, and we will not claim otherwise.

My child's school flagged possible scoliosis. What now?

Have it assessed properly rather than watched anxiously. Curves are measured, documented and monitored over time, and the degree and the child's remaining growth are what determine whether it needs monitoring, bracing or an orthopedic referral. We will measure it and tell you which category it falls into, including when the answer is a specialist rather than us.

Should my child be adjusted for headaches?

Possibly, if the examination points to a neck-related cause, which in children often traces back to screens and posture. But headaches in a child deserve a proper history first, because some presentations need a pediatrician rather than a chiropractor. You get that filter before any treatment plan.

What will this cost for the whole family?

You get it in writing before you start, including what your insurance is likely to cover and what a family arrangement would total. Nobody should be signing up for family care without a figure in front of them.

Honestly, do I have time for this?

The initial examination needs a proper slot. After that, visits are short, and the plan is a defined number of them with a re-test date rather than an open commitment. If the schedule genuinely will not accommodate it, say so at the first visit and the plan gets built around what you can actually attend — that works better than a plan you abandon in week three.

Get yourself looked at, finally

An examination in Marietta with after-school and evening appointments, family visits booked together, and the cost in writing before you start.
